Get Medieval on Your Home Decor

Posted in Medieval Decorating at 9:43 pm by a2armory

Medieval Wall HangingsThere are many ways to create a medieval theme in your home – whether you’re going for a full house makeover or just want to make a castle out of one room.

You don’t have to own a mansion high up on a hill to bring the medieval era into your decor, you can do it anywhere. Here is a great article on medieval decorating: http://www.genetic-news.com/sign-of-prostate-cancer/making-a-medieval-room-in-your-house

Here are some excerpts from the article:

The best way to start is to work with the floors, walls, and windows first. The room will look like an authentic room in a medieval home rather than just a standard room in a modern house with some medieval items placed within. Get some medieval looking curtains to place over the windows.

Take your windowless walls and place medieval tapestries on them. After that you can put some smaller paintings to fill in other areas of the wall.

You could get some medieval armor, shields and helmets to display around the room. These could be bought online at places like a2armory.com. Armor could be displayed on armor stands against the wall. The helmets can either be placed on shelves, table tops, or even specially made helmet stands.

Folks love to add in medieval weapon displays to their room. If your trying to make the room look really authentic, you could display these in a weapons rack. Otherwise you could mount them on a wall or place them within a glass case. Glass cases can add a bit of safety to your weaponry.

Illustrated History of Medieval Weapons

Posted in Books on Weapons at 11:59 pm by a2armory

In the Middle Ages, the lack of standardized weapons meant that one warrior’s arms were often quite different from another’s; even when they were fighting on the same side.

Check out the book here: http://militaryweaponry.buyonlinebooksdiscount.com/medieval-weapons-an-illustrated-history-of-their-impact-weapons-and-warfare/

From the fall of the Roman Empire to the beginnings of the Renaissance, Medieval Weapons: An Illustrated History of Their Impact covers the inexorable transformation from warrior in the mail shirt to fully armored knight, from the days of spears and swords to the large-scale adoption of the handgun.Medieval Weapons covers this fascinating expanse of centuries in chapters devoted to the early medieval, Carolingian, Crusade, and late medieval periods.

Within each period, the book details how weapons and armor were developed, what weapons were used for different types of battles, and how weapons and armor both influenced, and were influenced by, changing tactics in battles and sieges.
